FIELD LESSON
Briefing
Safety is managed, not hoped for
A safety management system is a way to notice hazards, assess risk, apply controls, report events, and improve the system. It is not only for large aviation organisations; small drone teams also need a repeatable safety loop.
Report small signals
Battery swelling, compass errors, rushed clients, poor handover, glare, unexpected people on site, and confusing airspace checks are all useful safety signals. Capture them before they become incidents.
Close the loop
Every issue should have an owner, action, and follow-up. If a hazard keeps appearing, change the checklist, training, equipment, pricing, or client terms.
