Insurance Requirements & Providers

CASA Compliance & Regulatory Framework

Learn how to think about drone insurance as mission-specific risk cover instead of a generic checkbox.

FIELD LESSON

Briefing

Start with the mission

Insurance suitability depends on where you fly, why you fly, what aircraft and payload you use, who owns the site, what deliverables you create, and what contract you sign. A generic policy may not cover the job you are quoting.

Ask in writing

Ask the insurer or broker about commercial RPA operations, subcontracting, night work, heavy aircraft, payloads, excluded categories, thermal work, mapping, privacy, data loss, and minimum client liability requirements.

Certificates are part of delivery

Many commercial clients need a certificate of currency before site access. Store the certificate, policy conditions, and broker responses with the mission record.

PRACTICE TASK

Make it operational.

Create a one-page insurance question list for a broker based on the exact service you want to sell first.

PREMIUM DEEP DIVE

Source-backed training for paid pilots.

This layer turns the reference links into practical operating knowledge: what to read, what to decide, what to save, and how to prove the lesson in a real pilot profile.
